Moje Montessori shares ideas about Montessori toys and play for babies and toddlers. We want you to use them safely and with your eyes open, so here’s what this site is, and what it isn’t.
Information, not medical advice
Everything on this site is for general information. It isn’t medical, health, or professional advice, and it can’t replace the judgment of your pediatrician or another qualified professional who knows your child.
Miri, who writes Moje Montessori, is a mom. She isn’t a doctor, a nurse, a therapist, or a certified Montessori guide. When we write about health, development, sleep, or feeding, we link to the sources we rely on, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC, so you can read them yourself.
Please don’t ignore medical advice, or wait to get it, because of something you read here. If you’re worried about your child’s health, growth, or development, talk to your pediatrician.
In an emergency, call 911. If your child may have swallowed a button battery or magnets, go to the emergency room right away. For any other possible poisoning, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 (free, 24/7).
Toys, activities, and supervision
Every child is different, and you know yours best. Before you offer any toy or activity from this site:
- Supervise. The activities here are meant to be done with an adult nearby, paying attention.
- Check the age grading and follow the manufacturer’s instructions and warnings.
- Watch for choking hazards. Small parts, balls, magnets, button batteries, and long cords or strings are dangerous for young children, especially under age 3.
- Look up recalls at CPSC.gov/Recalls before buying or using a toy, including hand-me-downs.
- Inspect toys often for cracks, splinters, peeling finish, or loose parts, and stop using anything that’s damaged.
When we describe checking a toy at home (feeling for rough spots, shaking it for loose parts, measuring it), that’s a parent’s check. It isn’t a safety test or certification, and it doesn’t replace the testing toy makers are required to do.
About Montessori
Moje Montessori isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), the American Montessori Society (AMS), or any other Montessori organization or school. What we share is one family’s way of bringing Montessori ideas home, alongside other approaches like the EASY routine and baby-led weaning. It isn’t a training program.
Accuracy and changes
We work to keep our information accurate and current, but guidelines change, products change, and prices change. An article may not reflect the latest recommendation or the price you see today. Check the date on each article, and the product maker’s own information before you buy.
